After months of dedicated development and refinement, I’m excited to share that MedAid has been officially submitted to the App Store for review!
What’s Happened Since January
When I first announced MedAid in January, the vision was clear: create a medication-tracking app that truly serves users with complex medication needs, with particular attention to accessibility for cognitively and vision-challenged users. What I underestimated was the depth of work required to bring that vision to life properly.
The journey from announcement to submission took longer than anticipated—a combination of professional commitments and a determination to get the accessibility features right. But the result is an app I’m genuinely proud of.
What Makes MedAid Different
Verified Medication Database
MedAid integrates with government-approved medication databases(FDA, Health Canada, and MedlinePlus), so users can search formedications and access verified information about ingredients, usage, and safety—all within the app.
Flexible Scheduling
Unlike simple reminder apps, MedAid accommodates complex
medication regimens. Users can set different schedules for different days of the week, specify food timing requirements, and manage multiple medications with varying frequencies.
Visual Tracking
The calendar view provides an at-a-glance overview of medication adherence, with both weekly and monthly views that help you track patterns—especially useful for cyclical schedules or every-few-days regimens. Visual indicators mark days with scheduled medications and days where you’ve logged your doses.
Smart Reminders
Stay on track with medication reminders delivered through notifications and, for users on iOS 26 or later, native system alarms. The alarm integration provides an extra layer of reliability—similar to your morning wake-up alarm, these reminders are designed to break through Do Not Disturb and other
notification filters.
Easy Logging
Track when you take your medications with flexible logging options—mark individual doses as taken or skipped, log multiple medications at once, or use the home screen widget for quick one-tap logging without opening the app. The app also supports off-schedule dose logging for those unexpected timing changes.
True Accessibility
MedAid was built from the ground up with accessibility in mind—not as an afterthought. Full VoiceOver support, Dynamic Type compatibility, and carefully designed UI patterns ensure the app works for everyone, regardless of visual or cognitive challenges.
Export Options
Share your medication information easily with PDF exports of your medication list and CSV exports of your logs, making it simple to keep healthcare providers informed.
What Happens Next
The app is now in Apple’s review queue. App Store review typically takes anywhere from 1-7 days, though it can occasionally take longer. During this time, Apple’s review team will test the app to ensure it meets their quality and safety
standards.
Once approved, MedAid will be available for download as a free app on the iOS App Store for iPhone users running iOS 18 or later.
Looking Ahead
This initial release focuses on the core medication management experience. Based on user feedback after launch, I’m planning future enhancements including:
- Apple Health integration – Sync medication data with your Health app for a complete health picture
- iPad and Apple Watch support – Use MedAid seamlessly across all your devices.
- Enhanced accessibility – Continued improvements for all users
- Premium features – Advanced capabilities for power users
Thank You
To everyone who has followed this journey since January—thank you for your patience and support. The extra time allowed me to build something truly useful rather than rushing to meet an arbitrary deadline.
I’ll share another update as soon as MedAid is approved and available for download!
