MedAid – Terms of Use (Canada)

Welcome to MedAid. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the MedAid mobile application (“MedAid,” “the app,” “we,” “us”).

By using MedAid in Canada, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.


1. Not Medical Advice

MedAid is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

MedAid is intended only as a personal medication organization and reminder tool.

You must consult your physician, pharmacist, or Canadian healthcare provider regarding:

  • medical decisions
  • diagnosis or treatment
  • medication safety, interactions, or dosage

Do not rely on MedAid as a substitute for professional care.


2. External Information Sources

MedAid displays medication information from Canadian and U.S. government public health sources, including:

This content is provided “as is.” MedAid does not write, review, or alter this information.

OpenFDA Notice: Per openFDA’s terms of service: “Do not rely on openFDA to make decisions regarding medical care. While we make every effort to ensure that data is accurate, you should assume all results are unvalidated.”

Important for Canadian Users: Some external sources — particularly MedlinePlus, DailyMed, and ODS — contain U.S.-specific information that may not apply in Canada. MedAid does not control, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of information provided by these external sources. Always consult a Canadian healthcare professional for advice specific to your region.


3. Emergency and Safety Information

Some external pages may display U.S.-specific emergency instructions, such as:

  • U.S. poison control numbers
  • U.S. safety guidelines
  • U.S. emergency procedures

These instructions do not apply in Canada.

In Canada, for emergencies:

  • Call 911, or
  • Contact your local provincial poison control service if applicable

MedAid does not override, filter, or validate external safety content.


4. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • entering medication details accurately
  • configuring schedules and reminders correctly
  • verifying medication information with a Canadian healthcare provider
  • following professional medical guidance

MedAid is not responsible for:

  • missed or incorrect doses
  • misconfigurations
  • incorrect interpretations of external information
  • health outcomes related to app use
  • the accuracy or currency of government or external medical content

5. On-Device Data Storage

All personal data (medication list, schedules, logs) is stored locally on your device.

MedAid does not collect or store this data on any server.

You are responsible for securing your device.


6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted under Canadian law, MedAid and its developers are not liable for:

  • damages resulting from app use
  • inaccuracies in external data sources
  • medical outcomes or reliance on content
  • missed reminders or device/system-related issues
  • any misuse or misconfiguration

MedAid is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.


7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms over time.

Continued use of the app indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.


8. Governing Law

These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with
the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada
applicable therein, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms of Use or the use of
MedAid shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts
